Conquer the Impossible

El Imposible National Park is home to many endangered animals, and one of the last stretches of El Salvador’s beautiful natural forest, however it is also one of the most endangered ecosystems in the world. All around, coffee plantains are starting to encroach upon the borders of the forest, some even using growing methods that are detrimental to the forest’s growth.

The park is considered the best place to view the natural ElS6forest and mountains of El Salvador. This tropical cloud forest carpets around 3,800 hectares of mountainous region and over 1000 species of plants, 103 species of mammals, 282 of birds, and 53 of amphibians and reptiles reside here.

The park costs under $5 dollars to enter, and there are 3 major trails that are open for hiking: a 1k nature hike, a 6-7k circle around the valley, and an 8-9k trip to the highest point in the park, Cerro Leon. Companies like Impossible Tours arrange a variety of treks through the terrain. Check it out, and don’t forget to bring plenty of water and snacks for the trail.
