Ichanmichen Tourist Center in La Paz

One kilometer south of the La Paz city Zacatecoluca you will find the Ichanmichen Tourist Center, a fun place to spend the whole day with the family.

Zacatecoluca is a charming little city in itself, not much to do but relax and chat with the locals, and visit the Santa Lucia Cathedral. Just south of town however, you will find IchanmicheIchamichen, which means “cave of small fish” in the Nahuatl language.

Locally may legends are associated with the area, such as El Cipito and La Ciguanaba… but you will have to ask the locals for the details on those stories.

At the Tourist Center in Ichamichen you will find 5 pools for swimming, 3 for adults and 2 for children, 3 fish tanks, several delicious restaurants, 33 cabins, bathrooms, and dressing rooms. There is also a picnic area and a soccer field. The park is surrounded by a lush forest, making it a great way to enjoy nature.

The area is well managed by park rangers, and there is a police station on site as well. The park, which was opened in 1956, is associated with a lot of family fun in El Salvador, and can be a great way to spend your day as well.

The park is open from 8 am to 6 pm and is located in the department of La Paz at Km 57.
