Organic Farm and Hotel in El Salvador

Once you have landed in El Sal, you will need a place to stay. There are your standard options within the city, major hotel names like the Marriott, Holiday Inn, Radisson, InterContinental types, and then there are a whole slew of other types of hotels and hostels.

For something Lisa Guest House San Salvadoreven more different, check out the Hotel Lisa Guest House, an organic farm/hotel located only 30 minutes north of San Salvador, just off the main road to Honduras (Troncal del Norte).

The rooms are comfortable, large, and private, with double beds, and bunk beds for children. Room with A/C, a ceiling fan, and a TV and a private bath cost only US $25 for two people, and $10 for each additional person.

Shared bedrooms (dormitory style), with private baths and which sleep 4–5 people cost $5 per person. And if you are even more budget or rustic than that, you can rent a tent for $4 a night, or bring your own and pay $3.50. Campers get full access to the bathrooms and showers, and the hotel lobby/common area.

The rooms and other buildings are all made with local materials: wood, adobe, and ceramic roof tile. The idea is to give visitors the feeling that they are at a typical rural El Salvadoran farm home, with a couple extra amenities of course. (After all, you are on vacation!)

The hotel is surrounded by the beautiful El Salvadoran countryside. Gardens, forests and hills at the organic farm are the perfect place to hike, and observe the birds, mammals and reptiles typical to the region.

The organic farm “Las Termopilas” grows organic fruits and vegetables, and also produces coffee and honey. You can take tours to see both these processes in action.

La Posada de John Paul is the hotel restaurant and it serves, you guessed it, organic agricultural and natural products for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The owners of Lisa’s Guest House also own several other hotels in El Salvador, Ximena’s Guest House, the Laguna Verde Guest House and Capricho Beach House.
