Botanical Garden La Laguna – Just Outside of San Salvador

The botanical garden in San Salvador is on the list of places not to be missed. It is especially nice because of the contrast that is offers from the crazy streets of San Salvador. Botanical garden

The easiest way to get to the La Laguna Botanical Gardens is by taxi, which costs about 6 US dollars, however you can also take the bus, although if you don’t speak any Spanish, I highly recommend hailing a cab. For your way home the park staff can call a cab for you.

Once inside the gardens it is hard to remember the city is surrounding you. The plant life is incredible, as are the decorative ponds, trees, and flowers. There are also a number of different animals and many pretty birds.

The gardens are located in Antiguo Cuscatlán, which is a suburb of San Salvador (and also happens to be the home of the US embassy). The park can be found at Km 8 of the Pan American Highway, in the Industrial Zone of La Laguna.

The gardens are open from Tuesday through Sunday, 9 am to 5:30 pm, and on most holidays. Admission is only a few dollars. There is a small gift shop where you can buy Spanish books and t-shirts. There are also park maps available there, so make sure you pick one up on your way into the gardens.

The park paths are mostly paved, so it is easily navigated by anyone, and there are some seating areas and restaurants that serve El Salvadoran food, snacks and drinks.

  2. Looks like a fascinating post and supporting comments here. I would point out that others certainly propose a different case, especially in terms of gardening. Have you located good viewpoints on the Internet, and would you let me know where?
